The Czech Language Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences verifies the forms of first names and surnames in relation to legal provisions governing how names must be entered in personal identification documents. This work is carried out by the Department of Onomastics of the Czech Language Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
The Department elaborates expert opinions solely in written form and sends completed opinions by registered mail. The Department charges a fee for elaboration of expert opinions. Current rates range from CZK 600 to CZK 1,100, depending on the complexity of the given expert opinion, plus VAT and a handling fee. After the client pays the deposit invoice sent by e-mail, the Department sends the expert opinion by registered mail.
